![]() If you don't use rig control, the maximum frequency is 9,999,999.999 kHz. If you are using flrig for rig control, an entry outside the limits will be sent to the rig the rig should reject the command and the flrig and fldigi displays should revert to the current rig frequency. If you are using rigCAT (i.e., a rig XML file containing command definitions and minimum and maximum allowable frequencies), an entry outside the limits will not be sent to the rig - the display will revert to the rig frequency following the next rig poll cycle. The number of digits that may be entered displayed is currently hardcoded to seven digits to the left of the decimal and three to the right. In addition to allowing you to set the rig frequency, it will track with changes made on the rig itself. The frequency display is also a control it displays frequency in kHz. The combo box on the right will allow the selection and control of the transceiver's receive filter bandwidth. The combo box on the left will allow the selection and control of the operating mode of the transceiver. The logged frequency value will only be correct for LSB and USB operation. This frequency value is used with the waterfall audio frequency to compute the logged frequency. If fldigi is being used with an FM transceiver you probably should enter the simplex frequency or the input frequency of a repeater being used. ![]() When no CAT is available the control is simply a convenient way of keeping track of the transceiver USB/LSB suppressed carrier frequency, the mode and the audio tracking point. The price of an IC-V80 on ebay is comparable to the higher wattage baofeng HTs.The same control is used for both manual entry of the transceiver frequency or with full CAT control. It’s working fine for FSQ, including photo transmission with that mode. This article indicates that Digirig PTT control over the baofeng is possible, I just havent personally tried it yet: VHF/UHF Digital Modes with budget HTs – digirigįor HT transmission with fldigi I just picked up an icom IC-V80 sport, and the proper Digirig cable. You might opt to set the radio to transmit at lower power too, to keep the radio from heating up. If you choose to stick with the baofeng, I recommend turning off the battery saver in the baofeng settings menu (you need the receiver on and listening 100% of the time), and activating a half second pre-signal tone in Fldigi under Configure | IDs | RsID. But, the limitations of that radio were a constant struggle. This could be remedied by upgrading equipment, selecting a faster digital mode, or transmitting fewer characters (send the information directly from fldigi without all the extra characters transmitted by an flmsg form).Ĭontinuing our convo from the other thread, I have made a baofeng work with fldigi using other brands of cables (utilizing VOX), so I know the radio is capable of digital modes transmission. If it is too hot to comfortably touch after 2 minutes of transmission, you may be exceeding the duty cycle of that particular radio, causing the transmitting radio to malfunction in unpredictable ways.
